Catching Up .... Again

You'd think with it being summer and all that this blog would be full of reports. Sorry. I've been a little remiss about reporting lately since last weekend I seem to have ruptured an ear drum from a back loop gone bad. So, I'm in recover mode, trying to keep my ear dry and my head just isn't in the game - pardon the pun. Not that the winds have been that epic anyway. Thursday and Friday we saw light winds. The winds returned yesterday for the first race of the annual Maui Race Series. Winds were still somewhat light yesterday, 5.0 t0 5.7ish for guys on wave gear. There was a complete absence of surf yesterday. Must have been perfect racing conditions for the slalom event.

Winds so far today are pretty light. It's a beautiful sunny warm day here on Maui though. Great beach weather unless you're looking to get some powered sailing in. But, who knows, maybe the wind will kick in a bit later. Forecast for the next few days though is for the wind to continue to decline and bottom out on Tuesday. Looks like very light wind through Thursday. This is very unusual for this time of year. Normally we should be getting 4.5 winds on a daily basis. But, this has been anything but a normal year so far.

  • Sorry about the eardrum. Please get well. I enjoy reading your blog.

PS. I know you are in some kind of witness protection program on Maui, no name, no photo, no identity, no profile with the blog. But someone has outed you on the NW-windtalk yahoo group. Kip Wylie says your name is something like Jeff Bennett (I don't remember exactly), and you used to sail at Swell City and work at Boeing. Loose lips sink ships. So, watch out, the bad guys all know where you are now, and they will be coming after you soon probably. You may have enough time to relocate to Fiji before they get you - better start packing now. And, when you get to Fiji, no more blogging, unless you want to be a fugitive on the run the rest of your natural life. F.

  • I'm sorry to tell you this, but your information is incorrect. I know for a fact that makani is a tahitian tribal member, but was expelled for riding the kings favorite waveboard.

He is not allowed to show his face in public until he redeems himself in the eyes of the king by doing a forward loop whilst exiting his final bottom turn on Jaws. We know it may take a while for him to accomplish this awesome feat, but he can at least spend his time waiting in the company of the princess, who was banished from Tahiti at the same time for teaching a visitor the sacred windsurfing hula dance. More about the princess later.....

  • Makani is a cute golden retriever who hangs at Kanaha. His Mum and Dad like to race, but he just likes to beg for bananas. Seems he thinks he's a monkey, not a dog. He also writes the best monkey/dog windsurfing blog on the planet.
